A SaaS Founder's Guide to Posting on TikTok, Reels, and Shorts Consistently
Most SaaS founders know they should post short-form video. Few actually do it consistently. Here's the system that makes it sustainable.
You've read the threads. You've seen the case studies. "SaaS founder posts on TikTok, gets 50K views, 200 signups." You know you should be doing it. But you're also building the product, doing support, managing infrastructure, and you posted one video three months ago that got 47 views.
The gap between "knowing you should post" and "actually posting consistently" is the hardest problem in founder-led marketing. This guide is about closing that gap — not with motivation, but with a system.
Why Consistency Matters More Than Quality
The algorithm on every short-form platform — TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts — rewards consistency over production quality. A founder who posts a mid-quality video every day will outperform one who posts a perfect video once a month. This is not a philosophical position. It's how the recommendation engines work.
Each platform's algorithm needs data about your content to decide who to show it to. More posts = more data = better targeting. A single viral video followed by silence tells the algorithm you're not a reliable content source. Daily or near-daily posting tells it you're worth investing in.
The Minimum Viable Posting Schedule
Based on platform best practices and what we've seen work for SaaS founders:
- TikTok: 4-7 videos per week (1/day ideal, 4/week minimum)
- Instagram Reels: 3-5 per week
- YouTube Shorts: 3-5 per week
- LinkedIn video: 2-3 per week
Total: 12-20 videos per week across platforms. That sounds impossible for a solo founder — until you realize you can repost the same content across platforms (with minor format tweaks) and batch-produce with AI tools.
The Batch Production System
Don't produce videos one at a time. Batch them:
- Monday: 30 minutes. Generate 5-10 video scripts from your Truth Sheet, varying video type and tone.
- Tuesday: 15 minutes. Review scripts, make edits, approve. Videos render automatically.
- Wednesday-Friday: 5 minutes/day. Post the pre-generated videos. One per platform per day.
Total weekly time investment: ~90 minutes. Output: 12-15 unique videos posted across all channels.
Content Themes That Work for SaaS
You don't need to be creative every day. Rotate through these proven themes:
- Problem/Solution: "Tired of [problem]? Here's how [product] fixes it."
- Feature spotlight: Deep dive on one feature, one benefit.
- Behind the scenes: "Here's what I shipped this week."
- Customer story: "[Customer type] used [product] to [outcome]."
- Myth-busting: "You don't need [expensive thing] to [achieve outcome]."
- Quick tip: "One thing most [audience] gets wrong about [topic]."
Six themes × 2 variations per week = 12 videos. Each generated in minutes from your existing product data.
The Metrics That Actually Matter
Ignore vanity metrics (total views, follower count). Track:
- Profile visits from video: Did viewers click through to learn more?
- Link clicks / bio clicks: Did they take action?
- Watch-through rate: Did they watch past the hook? (Above 40% = good)
- Saves: Did they bookmark it? (High-intent signal)
One video with 500 views and 20 profile visits is more valuable than one with 50,000 views and 0 clicks. Optimize for intent, not impressions.
